Yoga DVDs
Have you looked at the online selection of yoga DVDs lately? There are literally hundreds (if not thousands) of them to choose from.
Trying to name all of the yoga DVDs out there would be impossible. If you are the kind of person that avoids any sort of gym studio like the plague, a video might seem like your best option. However, it must be stressed that all poses require careful attention in order to avoid injury. So, if you are going to learn how to do yoga from a film, be sure that you do it in front of someone else that can spot you. Beginners should stick to videos that have been made for beginners, since advanced poses can be difficult.
You might have a hard time selecting a video from the mass of films out there, but there is a simple way to go about it. First of all, make sure to read lots of consumer reviews regarding each video that you are considering. Then, call up your local yoga studio to ask about possible tapes that you might be able to learn from. Finally, try and find a place that will rent the movies to you. This way, if you don’t like the movie that you choose you can simply rent another one. If you can’t find a yoga rental store try and find a place that will allow you to return a few of them after you go through them.
The idea behind all yoga DVDs is to take you through basic poses with minimal effort. If you really want to jump into this sacred art, you will have to sign up for a course. Unlike other courses, you will find that yoga is really relaxing and easy to join. If you are still unsure, ask if you can observe a course at your local gym prior to purchasing a spot. If you like what you see, you can begin to join the class regularly. If not, you can keep trying out those DVDs.
As with anything else that you try and learn on your own, be sure to research yoga poses as much as possible in order to get the full effect. Try a few props, go through a few instructions, and then figure out whether or not it is something you want to stick with.
There are lots of yoga DVDs out there, but you have to start somewhere, right? Remember, if you want the full experience try joining a class instead of watching a movie…
